Tatted Flower Necklace with Up-Cycled Beads
Summer is here and this necklace is a reminder that we made it through the dark winter and that it's time to celebrate the return of the daylight!
I tatted the centre flower in my favourite yellow-pink-lime cotton thread, which I unofficially named 'my ice cream cotton', and gave it some interesting details by surrounding it with up cycled lime coloured beads and dramatic black flowers. The three front flowers measures 3.5 centimeters in diameter and the smaller ones are about 2 centimeters.
My up cycled beads come from a necklace with an unknown history, but I just love how the beads compliments the main 'ice-cream' flower and could not resist adding them to the design. The flower front of the necklace is 22 centimeters long, and with the added tatted strings it is 43 centimeters. A 5 centimeters extender chain and lobster clasp is added for an adjustable length.
If you wear this necklace repeatedly and want to wash it, soak the piece carefully in cold water and either let it air dry or iron on low setting with a small amount of spray-on starch.
